How Do I Exterminate Mice My Self? (DIY)

It's definitely a challenge to to try and exterminate mice yourself but If you've decided to go the DIY route then here are the top best traps to use.

    Mouse Glue Traps

Glue traps are also one of the cheapest methods of exterminating mice but are one of the messiest. What sets them apart from the rest is that they are beneficial in areas where exterminating mice are not allowed or discouraged. Using glue boards should be used for catching one or two mice however not the best when catching many. The ideal way to set up glue boards is to have them near areas where the mice travel back and forth from nest to food source which is usually around a 5-10 feet distance.

    Mouse Poison

Exterminating mice using poison is highly effective but be aware of the hazards it brings to other animals around you such as you or your neighbours pets. It goes with out saying that it should also be kept out of reach from children as well. For commercial areas it is common to make it known to every one around that poison is being used for mice prevention however you should always make sure you know the laws associated with using such a product as well. The best course of action is to consult a professional. Mouse poison is most effective when you are exterminating because it can kill many at a time. The downside is you can’t really keep track of how many were actually exterminated and therefore it may creep people out knowing they are dead in the walls some where. The most common way to use mouse poison is using a bait station.

    Mouse Snap Trap

If you buy a bunch of these traps and place them near their entrance holes you will quickly see why they are effective extermination tools. The best way to use them is the let the mice eat off of the trigger a few times with out setting the trap and then one night set them and see that you will catch much more. It’s great that you can reuse them however after a few snaps the metal does tend to get warped and the wood some times chips off. Setting up the traps also seems to have some draw back because it’s easy to get your finger snapped by one of them however it’s more surprising then painful but still painful. The snap trap is popular because of the low cost and the way it exterminates mice quickly with little suffering.

I am quite afraid of all the methods mentioned above. Using Glue is not helpful always. The second method of using a poison is also not recommended because, the mice may carry the poisons and drop it somewhere in our place. If we have kids around, it is very dangerous. The last one is much preferred but we should be very careful while using.

Thanks for sharing this informative article. Really it’s a painful task to trap mice. And once you have successfully freed your home from these creatures, make sure your home is less mice-friendly. Keep away their food sources so that they won’t get tempted to come back there. And never forget to wash your hands thoroughly, even if handling those wearing gloves.

It’s always better to remove mice at the very beginning. Because once they become cozy at one place, they may make a mess of all things. As they are comparatively smaller than rats and grayish brown in color and can climb or crawl faster, hence are very tough to either trap or kill. The traps mentioned in this article are conventional and easy to follow. I’ll definitely share this article those who are going through this same plight.

Oh man we should have guts to kill mice by ourself. I am allergic to mice. Though I prefer Mouse trap and Glue to get hold of those, it is really frustration if I find any new daily. I am looking for a permanent solution to get rid of these nasty mice.

It is really challenging if we want to kill the mice which disturbs our night sleeps. First we should identify the place where the mice usually visits and then placea poison or a trap in that place. We always use cheese to get the mouse trapped inside.
